Yes. No previous experience is usually required. The rules and procedure are explained during the conference, and the Chair will guide delegates throughout the session.
A delegate represents an assigned country or portfolio. They research the agenda, give speeches, participate in discussions, negotiate with other delegates, and help draft resolutions.
The committee begins with roll call and formal debate. Delegates then participate in moderated and unmoderated caucuses, collaborate on draft resolutions, and vote on them.
An agenda is the topic discussed by the committee, such as climate change, international security, refugee rights, global health, or cybercrime.
A committee is a group that discusses a particular international issue. Examples include the General Assembly, Security Council, Human Rights Council, World Health Organization, and Lok Sabha-style or specialised committees.
The goal is to represent your assigned country accurately while working diplomatically with other delegates to find solutions to international issues.
MUN helps you develop confidence in public speaking, research, critical thinking, teamwork, negotiation, and leadership. It also improves your understanding of global issues and teaches you how to express ideas clearly, listen to different perspectives, and work with others to find practical solutions.
Awards are based on your speeches, preparation, participation, diplomacy, teamwork, and contribution to resolutions. The committee Chairs evaluate delegates throughout the conference.
A delegation is a group of delegates representing the same country, school, college, or organisation at an MUN. Delegation members may participate in different committees while working together as a team.
